摘要

Abstract

Objective:To observe the features of morphological structure of cochlear hair cell stereocilia in DBA/2J mice at early ages and to discuss the causes of progressive hearing loss.Methods:The auditory brainstem response was tested to evaluate the hearing of mice at the age of 3,4 weeks and 8 weeks.Then,scanning electron microscopy was used to observe the images of hair cell stereocilia.Results:DBA/2J mice showed progressive hearing loss starting at the age of 4 weeks.Pathological features of the stereocilia in DBA/2J mice at different ages were revealed by scanning electron microscope.At 2 weeks of age,some of the stereocilia bundles were fused and softened at high magnification.At 4 weeks of age,stereocilia bundles became more fused,softened and lodged at high magnification.At 8 weeks of age,the number of missing stereocilia bundles grew bigger and the remaining bundles became more lodged at low magnification-Conclusion:The fusion,softening,lodging and missing of stereocilia bundles may be the causes of early onset hearing loss in DBA/2J mice.
