Abstract
Objective:To investigate the effect of elastic occlusal pad onthe features of occlusal and sleep in patients with sleep bruxism(SB).Methods:Forteen patients with SB treated by elastic occlusal pad during January 2015 to October 2017 were involved as the observation group,and 14 health people were recruited as the control group.The differences be-tween 2 groups and inter observation group were observed.Results:Before treatment,the occlusion time(OT),disclusion time (DT)from left and right in the observation group were much longer than those in the control group,left and right offset of cen-ter of force(COF)in the observation group was much longer than it in the control group,percentage of occlusal force(POF)in right was much less than it in the control group,asymmetry index of occlusal force(AOF)was much more than it in the control group,hythmic masticatory muscle activity(RMMA)per hour in the observation group was much more than it in the control group,these differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment,in the observation group,OT,DT from left shortened significantly,left and right offset of COF decreased significantly,POF in left decreased significantly,POF in right increased significantly,AOF decreased significantly,RMMA and bruxism per hour decreased significantly,Molina score im-proved significantly,these inter observation group differences were statistically significant(P <0.05).After treatment,DT from left in the observation group was still higher than that in the control group,RMMA per hour in the observation group was still more than that in the control group,these differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Changes of occlusal characteristics are common in SB patients,but their sleep structure is similar with normal people,while the number of RMMA increases.The application of elastic occlusal pad can effectively correct the occlusal characteristics,reduce the num-ber of RMMA and lessen the symptoms of SB.关键词
