Abstract
Objective:This study was conducted to assess the efficacy of NovaMin and potassium nitrate toothpastes in the reduction of dentinal hypersensitivity.Methods:The study was a random controlled clinical trial,double-blinded.Ac-cording to inclusion and exclusion criteria 80 subjects were randomly divided into 2 groups,with 40 were given a 5% No-vaMin dentifrice(experimental group)and the other 40 given potassium nitrate dentifrice(control group).After VAS sensitivi-ty scores for probe stimulus,cold water and air stimulus at 1,4 and 8 weeks were analyzed respectively.Results:After one week,there was no significant difference in the symptoms of dentin hypersensitivity between NovaMin and potassium nitrate. All groups showed a reduction in sensitivity scores at 4 and 8 weeks.The NovaMin group was found to be significantly better compared to the potassium nitrate at probe stimulus,cold water and air stimulus at 4 weeks and 8 weeks respectively.Conclu-sion:The NovaMin showed a better reduction than potassium nitrate in the symptoms of dentinal hypersensitivity.关键词
