Abstract

In order to reveal the influence of temperature on soil freezing and thawing rate, and the relationship between soil freezing-thawing characteristics and air temperature,the air temperature and soil freeze-thaw process was monitored during eight consecutive freeze-thaw peri-ods at Taigu Water Balance Experimental Field,Bureau of Hydrology and Water Resources Sur-vey of Shanxi Province.The results show that:when the temperature drops rapidly to below 0 ℃and the daily average temperature is negative,the surface soil has no characteristic of daytime thawing and night freezing,and directly enters the stable freezing stage.The maximum soil freezing depth and average soil freezing rate (AFR)in stable freezing period have a close linear correlation with daily average negative temperature.The average soil thawing rate(ATR)in tha-wing period is about 35%~132% higher than AFR,and ATR has a linear relationship with the daily maximum temperature.The research results are significant for agricultural production and engineering construction in seasonal frozen soil area.
