In-plane Compressive Behavior of a Self-Similar Second Order Hierarchical Hexagonal Honeycomb

Abstract
The in-plane compressive behaviors of a self-similar second order hierarchical hon-eycomb (SOHH)were simulated by means of finite element simulation using ABAQUS,the de-formation modes of SOHH at different impact velocities were studied,the analytical models of SOHH for calculating plateau stress were established according to energy balance,and theoretical results had good agreement with simulations.Research results show that three deformation modes of SOHH were observed at different impact velocities,that is,quasi-static mode (X Mode),transitional mode (V Mode)and impact mode (I Mode).Impact velocity occupied the main effect on in-plane deformation modes of SOHH,with increasing impact velocity,deforma-tion mode of SOHH transformed from quasi-static mode to impact mode gradually.SOHH was obtained by introducing a hierarchical structure into an ordinary honeycomb,and the deformation of first order cell wall of SOHH was a combination of rotation and shortening under in-plane com-pression.关键词
