摘要

Abstract

Based on the soil-pile interaction, static response of single piles to torsional loading was investigated. By means of the variable separation method, the torsional equilibrium equation of soil was solved to obtain the explicit form of the torsional resistance around the shaft. The torsional resistance consists of two parts. One can be idealized as a Winkler spring, while the other as a membrane. The unknown coefficients of the torsional resistance were obtained by considering the continuity of the soil-pile interface. Based on the investigation on the torsional resistance, some conclusions may be drawn. The torsion produced by the Winkler spring is greater than membrane. With the increasing slenderness ratio of the pile, the torsion produced by the Winkler spring increases firstly and then remains the same value. However, the torsion produced by membrane decreases first and then remains constant. With the increasing pile-soil shear modulus ratio, the torsions by the spring and the membrane decrease.
