Mechanism and Regulation of α-Ketoglutaric Acid on Nutrient Metabolism and Some Functional Indicators of Animals

Abstract
α-ketoglutaric acid is an important substance for the animal organism energy supply in tricarboxylic acid cycle, and an important hub to connecting the carbon metabolism and nitrogen metabolism. α-ketoglutaric acid can improve the immune function of animal organism, affect the metabolism of calcium and phosphorus, increase the bone density and the contents of bone mineral elements, improve the intestinal mucosal structure, and affect some amino acid metabolism positively. In addition,α-ketoglutaric acid can improve the growth per-formance of animals by activating the mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR)signaling pathway to improve protein synthesis and deposition in skeletal muscle. This article summerized the mechanism and regulation of α-ketoglutaric acid on nutrient metabolism and some functional indicators of animals, and provided evidences for the popularization and application of α-ketoglutaric acid in aquaculture.关键词
