Abstract

In large commercial buildings,the vibration serviceability of long span cantilever beams and corridors under humaninduced vibration is frequently critical to structural designs.Therefore,it's necessary to apply effective vibration control measures.The evaluation criteria from many countries have been summarized.Human excitation of dense traffic in large commercial buildings is classified to 6 working conditions of slow walk and brisk walk on stride frequency.TMD systems,which consist of single modal controlling TMD system,multiple modal controlling MTMD system and single modal controlling MTMD system,are used in actual projects to control vibration.TMD system vibration reduction analysis is implemented for cantilever beam with the span of 8.678 m and corridors which overhanging length are 1.9 m and 3.9 m with a span of 26 m.As a result,the demands of architectural plan in large commercial buildings are mainly satisfied.Equipped with TMD and MTMD systems,the value of peak vertical acceleration of structures decreases significantly,and the maximal rate of vibration mitigation reaches 83.6 %,and the limitation of comfort standards is satisfied.Comfort limitation to long span corridors is proposed.The scope of application,the selection principle,the initial design parameters and placed position for TMD systems in large commercial buildings are summarized.
