Abstract

Using eichhornia crassipes roots as biological adsorbent,kinetics and adsorption isotherms of tetracycline (TC) adsorbed on eichhornia crassipes root under copper coexistence were discussed through an adsorption equilibrium experiment.Combined with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and group shielding technology,the effect and mechanism of Cu2+ on the adsorption of TC on eichhornia crassipes roots was analysed.The results show that co-adsorption kinetics and adsorption thermodynamics accord with quasi two stage kinetic model and Freundlich isothermal adsorption model.The absorption capacity of TC on eichhornia crassipes roots increases with the increase of Cu2+ concentration.When the hydroxyl and amino groups on eichhornia crassipes roots were chemically shielded,the adsorption capacity of TC decreased by 20% ~ 30%.Using FTIR technique,it was found that Cu2+ formed a bridge between roots and TC through its interaction with hydroxyl,carboxyl,amino,and aromatic structures.Thus,the adsorption of TC on eichhornia crassipes roots was promoted.
