Abstract

The distribution characteristics of organics-rich shale in Upper Paleozoic in Yima area was studied based on drilling and logging data.The reservoir characteristics of the Upper Paleozoic shale,including mineral composition,pore structure characteristics,permeability and gas-bearing property,were analyzed by means of X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy analysis,porosity and permeability testing to evaluate the hydrocarbon generation conditions of the organics-rich shale layers and optimize the favorable target layers for shale gas.The research shows that there are five sets of organics-rich shale layers in upper Paleozoic formation of the study area, their average thickness is 7.88 ~24.80 m,their brittleness coefficient is 40% ~60%.The nano-microcracks and intergranular and intragranular micro-pores are developed in the shale layers.The average porosity of the shale layers is about 2.2%,the permeability of the organics-rich shale whose depth is less than 1800 m is greater than 0.1 ×10 -3 μm2 ,and their adsorption gas content is 1.15 ~1.84 m3 /t.The Shan 2 member and Shan 1 member -Tai 1member shale layers whose depth is in 600 ~1800 m are selected as the favorable target layers for shale gas.
