Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of weaning age on food intake,body weight,body size and economic efficiency of Suffolk×Small-tail han sheep crossbred lambs in the drought zone of middle Gansu.100 Suffolk×Small-tail han sheep crossbred lambs(60 male and 40 female)were selected and randomly assigned into 4 groups with 25 replicates in each group(15 male and 10 female)and 1 lamb per replicate in a single factor experimental design.The lambs were weaning at 45-day(Ⅰ), 60-day(Ⅱ),75-day(Ⅲ)and 90-day(Ⅳ,control group)respectively.The experiment lasted for 120 days.The results showed as follows:①Weaning at 60-day had relatively little effect on food intake in late period,while weaning at 45-day was more harmful to the lambs,and it was very bad for their later development. ②Before 45-day,the body weight of the lambs has no significant difference among the groups(P>0.05).At the age of 120 days the body weight of the lambs in groupⅡ(27.25 kg±0.349 kg)was higher than those in other groups(P<0.05).Before the age of 30 days the daily gain was not different significantly.From birth to 120-day the daily gain wasⅡ>Ⅰ>Ⅲ>Ⅳ(0.20 kg,0.19 kg,0.18 kg and 0.17 kg,respectively).There was no significant difference among groups in body size of the lambs.③The economic profit of lambs and reproduction efficiency of ewes in groupⅡwas the highest(P<0.05).In conclusion,in the present study,Suffolk×Small-tail han sheep crossbred lambs'production performance and economic profit in the group weaning at 60 days was optimum in middle Gansu arid area.关键词
