加减薯蓣丸治疗轻中度肾精亏虚证老年期痴呆的磁共振波谱研究
Clinical Effect of Modified Dioscorea opposita Thunb.Pill in Treatment of Mildto-moderate Senile Dementia with Deficiency of Kidney-essence: an Analysis Based on Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy

Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of Modified Dioscorea opposita Thunb.Pill in the treatment of senile dementia with reference to the results of 1H-magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1 H-MRS) and neuropsychological scale.Methods A total of 20 patients with vascular dementia (VD) and 20 with Alzheimer's disease (AD),who were treated in Department of Encephalopathy and Department of Geriatrics in Hubei Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from December 2015 to April 2017 and had deficiency of kidney-essence,were enrolled,and 20 individuals with normal cognitive function were enrolled as control group.The patients with senile dementia were given Modified Dioscorea opposita Thunb.Pill in addition to medical treatment.The mini-mental state examination (MMSE),activities of daily living (ADL),and syndrome differentiation scale for dementia (SDSD) were used to evaluate the patients with senile dementia before and after treatment and the subjects in the control group,and 1H-MRS was performed for all subjects.Results Modified Dioscorea opposita Thunb.Pill significantly increased the reduced MMSE score and reduced the increased SDSD score in patients with VD or AD (both P＜0.05),but did not significantly improve the ADL score (P＞0.05).The results of 1H-MRS showed that Modified Dioscorea opposita Thunb.Pill significantly increased the reduced levels of N-acetylaspartate (NAA)/creatinine (Cr) in both frontal lobes in patients with VD or AD (P＜0.05),while it did not significantly reduce the increased levels of choline (Cho)/Cr in both frontal lobes (P＞0.05).Modified Dioscorea opposita Thunb.Pill did not have a significant effect on the scores of MMSE,SDSD,and ADL and the levels of NAA/Cr and Cho/Cr in both frontal lobes in patients with VD or AD (all P＞0.05).Conclusion Modified Dioscorea opposita Thunb.Pill can improve cognitive function in patients with mildto-moderate senile dementia,possibly by promoting the repair of damaged neural cells.关键词
