Medical culture of otolaryngology in the oracle bone inscriptions of the Shang Dynasty
摘要
Abstract
The names of seven kinds of otolaryngology, such as ear inflammation, ear frostbite, tinnitus, hearing impairment, sinusitis, nasal polyposis and voice hoarse, were recorded in oracle bone inscriptions. This paper described the etiological factors, such as the haunting or nightmare disease, the pathogenic factors, the internal and external environmental factors, etc. It also recorded the practice of practicing witchcraft and praying to the perpetrator for treatment. These records reflect the initial level of the development of otolaryngology in Shang Dynasty and the early medical culture of the motherland.关键词
