Circular RNA and cardiovascular diseases

Abstract
Circular RNA ( circRNA) is a class of RNA molecules shaped by a covalently closed continuous loop, it lacks the typical 5′cap and poly( A) tail. CircRNAs are abundent,stable,and specifically expressed in a cell type or tissue. Recent research indicates that the majority of circRNAs can serve as microRNA sponges, regulate gene expression andsplic-ing.Furthermore, circRNAs are able to bind with proteins mediating the translation of proteins.Emerging evidence supports that circRNAs play an important role in cardiovascular diseases. This study reviews the biosynthesis and function of circR-NAs, and also discusses the circRNA classification, feature and their potential significance in myocardial infarction,heart failure,atherosclerosis,as well as diabetic cardiomyopathy,providing a new strategyfor future diagnosis and therapy in cardi-ovascular diseases.关键词
