Abstract

The urea-formaldehyde microcapsules with photo-induced yel ow dye as the core material were prepared by in-situ polymerization. And it was applied to cotton fabric by coating finishing technology. The size, distribution and color performance of urea-formaldehyde photo-sensitizing microcapsules were ana-lyzed. The results showed that the microcapsules had regular spherical shape, smooth surface, dense struc-ture, particle size of about 2.7 μm, and concentrated particle size distribution. The effects of the dosage of mi-crocapsules and the amount of binder on the color properties, soaping fastness and fatigue resistance of fab-ric were studied. The results showed that when the amount of microcapsule was 6% and the amount of bind-er was 10%, the K/S value of the coated cotton fabric was 1.215. After 22 times of light fatigue resistance cy-cles, the K/S value only decreased by 0.479 and the soap fastness was up to 4~5 degree.
