Introduction of the National Veterinary Accreditation Program of USA and Its Main Mechanisms

Abstract
In this article,the National Veterinary Accreditation Program(NVAP)of USA and its main mechanisms were studied to provide reference for the building of China's new management mechanism for veterinarians. Research shows that the accredited veterinarians in America are the licensed ones who are authorized and accredited by the Department of Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service(APHIS)to conduct inspection and quarantine,supervise the circulation of animal and animal products,and assist the official veterinarians to control animal diseases,hence they possess the nature of official veterinarians. At present,80％ of the U.S. veterinarians are accredited veterinarians with the total number reaching to 68000. This has effectively solved the problem of the lack of government veterinarians in the country. According to article 161.1 ofthe Code of Federal Regulations,the management of accredited veterinarians by NVAP mainly involves the following items:the classification,identification of duties and responsibilities,training and education,accreditation and accreditation renewal as well as the imposition of disciplinary actions,etc.关键词
