Abstract

This experiment was conducted to stufy the effects of dietary Enterococcus faecalis SF68 on growth performance,blood routine and serum biochemical indexes and antioxidant ability of weaned piglets.Ninety castrated " Duroc × Landrace × Yorkshire" weaned piglets with similar body weight [(6.57 ± 0.08) kg] were randomly assigned to 5 groups with 3 replicates per group and 6 pigs per replicate (half male and half female).Pigs in the control group (CON group) were fed a basal diet,pigs in the antibiotic group (ANT group) were fed the basal diet supplemented with 0.007 5% chlortetracycline and 0.02% colistin sulfate,pigs in the antibiotic +low dose Enterococcusfaecalis group (ALEF group) were fed the basal diet supplemented with 0.007 5% chlortetracychne,0.02% colistin sulfate and 0.01% Enterococcus faecium SF68,pigs in the low dose Enterococcusfaecalis group (LEF group) were fed the basal diet supplemented with 0.01% Enterococcus faecium SF68,and pigs in the high dose Enterococcusfaecalis group (HEF group) were fed the basal diet supplemented 0.05% Enterococcus faecium SF68.The experiment lasted for 21 days.The results showed as follows:1) there were no significant differences on the average daily gain (ADG),average daily feed intake (ADFI),ratio of feed to gain (F/G) and diarrhea index of weaned piglets among all groups (P>0.05).The diarrhea indexes of ALEF and LEF groups were decreased by 65% and 67% compared with the CON group,respectively.2) The mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH),average red blood cell volume (MCV) and lymphocytes percentage in blood of LEF group were significantly higher than those of CON group (P<0.05 or P<0.01).3) The serum total bile acid (TBA) content of ALEF group was significantly lower than that of HEF group (P< 0.05),the serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activity of ALEF group was significantly higher than that of HEF group (P<0.05),the serum cholinesterase (CHE) activity of LEF group was significantly higher than that of CON and HEF groups (P<0.05).4) The serum hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) content of ALEF and LEF groups was significantly higher than that of CON,ANT and HEF groups (P<0.05 or P<0.01),the superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) in liver of ALEF and HEF groups were significantly higher than those of CON group (P<0.05).The jejunum a2O2 content of ANT,ALEF,LEF and HEF groups was significantly lower than that of CON group (P<0.05 or P<0.01),the jejunum SOD activity of ALEF group was significantly higher than that of ANT,LEF and HEF groups (P<0.05).The ileum SOD activity of ANT,ALEF,LEF and HEF groups was significantly higher than that of CON group (P<0.05 or P<0.01),the ileum malondialdehyde (MDA) content of ANT,ALEF,LEF and HEF groups was significantly lower than that of CON group (P<0.05 or P<0.01).The results indicate that the addition of Enterococcus faecalis SF68 in the basal diet can improve the growth performance of weaned piglets,reduce the diarrhea,improve the physiological and biochemical indexes of blood,enhance the ability of animal body oxygen transport and improve the immunity of the body,regulate lipid metabolism and energy metabolism,and enhance the antioxidant ability of the body,and the effect of LEF group is better than HEF group,but the mixed addition of antibiotics and Enterococcus faecium SF68 is better than that of the alone addition of Enterococcus faecalis.
