Direct Analysis of Real Time-Mass Spectrometry in Forensic Toxicological Test

Abstract
Direct analysis of real time (DART), a recent new innovation about ambient ionization/noncontact-to-exterior thermal desorption source, is a revolutionary mass spectrometry (MS) ionization technology. Because of the simplicity of this innovation, the forensic laboratory can analyze the sample high throughout, able to meet the requirements on-site, direct, non-destructive, rapid and in-situ. DART ionic source has no special requirements for the polarity of the tested material, making both the polar and non-polar compounds more sensitive in the analysis. DART analysis produces neither adduct nor multiple-charge ions so that the mass spectra of DART-MS are neat, simple of ion signal and easy to parse. These excellent advantages make the DART-MS highly practical. DART-MS is here introduced on its principle together with the applications in forensic toxicological analysis, focusing on the breakthrough to surpass the traditional mass spectrometry with its capability of analyzing the compounds of interest both in vitro and in vivo. Therefore, DART-MS has a very promising prospect in forensic science, especially for the forensic toxicology.关键词
