Immunohistochemical localization of ZENK protein in the brain of bullfrogs
摘要
Abstract
Objective:To compare and analyze the distribution difference of ZENK protein in the brains of male and female bullfrogs during summer and winter so as to lay the foundation for further research on the important physiological functions of ZENK protein in brains.Methods:The tissues of brains were taken from three female and three male American bullfrogs in summer and winter,respectively,and studied by paraffin section,immunohistochemical staining of SABC,optical density analysis.Results:The results showed that ZENK protein had no obvious positive cells in the brains of hiemal bullfrogs,and the higher positive reaction existed in the brains of estival bullfrogs.The distribution was mainly in the striatum,dorsal cortex,primordial hippocampus and primordial piriform area of the cerebrum,preoptic area,optic tectum and tegrnental nuclei of the diencephalon and mesencephalon,and Purkinje cellular layer of the cerebellum.In these areas,we could observe the strong positive reaction and progress.The distribution areas of ZENK protein in female and male bullfrogs were slightly different.In female frogs,the higher positive reaction was in the striatum,dorsal cortex,preoptic area,and nucleus anterodorsalis and anterovetralis tegmenti.In the male frogs,the distribution of the ZENK protein in these areas was lower than female frogs.But in the molecular layer,granular layer and raphe nuclei,male frogs had stronger positive responses than female frogs.Conclusion:The distribution of ZENK protein in bullfrog brains is similar to that of other animals,and may be involved in cognitive memory,behavioral coordination,and visual regulation,etc.And the ZENK protein in the brain of bullfrogs in different seasons and sexes may be adapted to the neural activity,estradiol secretion and active sexual behavior.关键词
