摘要
Abstract
Voltage source converter based high voltage direct current (VSC-HVDC) transmission systems and DC grids may be the most effective solutions for collection, integration and transmission of large scale remote renewable resources to load centers over long distances. A two-day technical forum for invited Chinese and European researchers involved in research activities in fields of VSC-HVDC and DC grids was held near Birmingham, UK on the 7th and 8thof September, 2015. The aim of the forum isto engage in a dialogue, exchange of information and explore cutting-edge technologies on key aspects of these fields and future directions for the technologies. This forum brought together 40 leading researchers and decision makers mainly from academic and industrial organizations in China and Europe. During the forum the participants presented their latest work and provided an up-date on their activity in research and development of the fields and on relevant project implementation. They also engaged in open discussions on future research directions in the fields. This paper summarizes major technical aspects presented and discussed by the participants, outlines research activities of several major manufacturers of power equipment for HVDC and sums up challenges of VSC HVDC and DC grids based on the open discussions carried out in the forum.关键词
