摘要

Abstract

In view of steady-state overreach and miss operation of conventional distance protection caused by transition resistance, a new single phase grounding distance protection scheme immune to transition resistance was presented and its feasibility was analyzed. Firstly, based on geometrical property of vectors of voltage and current of protective relay and fault point, similar triangles were established. On this basis, equation of fault distance was formulated to eliminate effect of transition resistance. Then using phase relationship between negative sequence current measured by distance relay and voltage at fault point, above equation of fault distance was simplified, beneficial to its quick solution. The new distance protection scheme can locate fault point with single end electric quantities and effectively solve mal-operation or miss operation problems caused by transition resistance. Validity of the new scheme was confirmed with simulations on PSCAD/EMTDC.
