Genetic Variation of Early Growth in Different Provenances of Michelia macclurei

Abstract
The forest of 6-year-old Michelia macclurei provenance was used as the research material to esti-mate the variance component of provenance, provenance repetitiveness, and variation coefficient of growth trails of each stand age by using the SAS-related models, in order to understand the genetic parameters of growth traits as stand age changed. Results showed that the range of DBH was the maximum,and the DBH has reached 13.5 cm at the age of 6 years. The range and standard deviation of growth traits increased with the in-crease of forest age. The coefficient of variation of tree height was the smallest and the coefficient of variation of individual volume was the biggest. The height of different ages and D3showed extremely significant differences between provenances over the past years (P< 0.001). D5showed extremely significant difference between provenances (P<0.01),and the other traits of provenances showed significant differences between prove-nances (P < 0.05). The range of provenance heritability was from 0.41 to 0.66. Heritability was stable with the change of forest age. The phenotypic and genetic variation coefficients of individual volume were bigger than the tree height and DBH. The growth traits of provenances varied significantly in different stages,and the genetic control in different stages was basically the same. Through the analysis of the genetic parameters of growth traits with the change of the forest age,it provided the basis for the improvement of the plant in the fu-ture.关键词
