Development and design of computer-aided system for quantitative analysis of pulmonary function

Abstract
When the physicians diagnose the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in thoracic Computed Tomography (CT)image sequences, they require to obtain the relative indexes of pulmonary function as a reference. Therefore, a computer-aided system is developed for quantitative analysis of pulmonary function. Firstly, multiple segmentation methods are incorporated to segment three-dimensional pulmonary parenchyma. Secondly, volume rendering technique is employed to reconstruct three-dimensional model. Finally, the quantitative analysis of pulmonary function is evaluated by using the segmented pulmonary parenchyma. In addition, for the personalized requirement of physicians, the system also achieves the quantitative analysis of lung function in the local Volume of Interest(VOI)and the arbitrary CT value range of interest of lung parenchyma.关键词
