The treatment of children's fractures of ulna and radius with elastic intramedullary nails

Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of elastic intramedullary nailing for ulnar and radial fractures in children. Methods A total of 28 cases of children with ulnar and radial fractures were treated with elastic intr-amedullary nails. The implants were removed 3～6 months after operations when bony union. Results All the 28 pa-tients were followed up for 6～12 months. All fractures were healed in 8～15 weeks. One patient presented with limit-ed extension of the thumb after surgery, and 1 patient suffered from nail-tail irritation at the elbow. No complications such as refracture,bone nonunion,broken nails and epiphyseal injuries etc. At final follow-up,the elbow function was evaluated by the HHS score standard,26 cases were excellent,2 cases were good. Conclusions The treatment of e-lastic intramedullary nailing for ulnar and radial fractures in children is effective, because it has the advantages of less trauma, less bleeding, less pain, fast healing, no epiphysis injuries, less complications and so on.关键词
