Performance investigation of triple-effect solar brackish water desalination device with vertical tubular falling film evaporation

Abstract
A triple-effect solar brackish water desalination device with vertical tubular falling film evaporation has been designed to overcome the shortages of low water productivity and low efficiency of conventional solar still. In the device, the feed water gets heat recovery to reuse the latent heat. The transient-state and steady-state performance of the device were tested and the Gained Output Ratio (GOR) was concluded under different operation conditions. An experimental investigation was carried out to study the feed water temperature, evaporation and condensation temperature difference and yield of the device under heat recovery and non-heat recovery process, respectively. Results indicate that,the maximum water productivity of the device can reach 175 g/10 min and the maximum GOR of the device can reach 2 at the heat input power of 335 W. In addition, the water yield of the device under heat recovery process is 40.67% higher than that of the device under non heat recovery process under fixed heating temperature conditions. The economic analysis of the triple-effect device has been carried out.关键词
