Comparison of Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing between America and China
摘要
Abstract
Objective To compare the course of Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing between 2 different nursing schools in America and in China from the perspective of course objectives, curriculum, teaching pattern and assessment and to provide reference for the development of nursing courses in China. Methods Educational comparative method was applied to analyze the similarities and differences between the 2 different courses in 2 nursing schools. Results The course in America focused on Obstetrics especially family nursing and community nursing and emphasized on fostering thinking competence and self-learning abilities. On the other hand, the course in China focused on educating the knowledge and skills, especially the nursing in department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Lecturers played an essential role in Chinese classes to synthesize and deliver the knowledge and there was time interval between lectures and clinical practice. Conclusion There are some inspirations for the course development in China, such as close integration between theory and practice, multi-methods of teaching, self-learning module and on-going evaluation pattern. In the development of the course of Obstetrics and Gynecology Nursing, more attentions should be paid to some concepts such as early exposure to the clinic, internet-based multi-level learning mode and students'performance during the learning process.关键词
