西藏色季拉山川滇高山栎群落生态位特征
Niche characteristics of Quercus aquifolioides community on the Sejila mountains, Tibet, China

Abstract
Understanding the mechanisms including "niche differentiation and overlap" behind community assembly plays an important role in predicting community dynamic and protecting local biodiversity. Due to geographical and traffic restrictions, forest communities on the southeastern Tibetan Plateau are relatively less disturbed by human activities, resulting in a natural laboratory for theoretical research on community ecology. Based on field investigation and utilized importance value of plant species as indicator of resource status, the niche breadth and overlap of 49 main plant species in community of Quercus aquifolioides on the Sejila Mountains was studied using Levins, Shannon-Wiener and Horn indices. The results showed that (1) Q.aquifolioides, Lonicera microphylla, and Drynaria sinica had the largest niche breadths in the tree, shrub, and herb layers, respectively, in the Q.aquifolioides community on the Sejila Mountains;(2) the niche overlap within forest layers showed as herb layer> shrub layer > tree layer;(3) the niche overlap between species from different layers showed as the values between shrub and herb > between tree and shrub> between tree and herb;(4) as a pioneer tree species, Q. aquifolioides and its community played important roles in soil and water conservation and desertification control on the southeastern Tibetan plateau. In the community of Q.aquifolioides, coexistence of species inter-and intra-levels was promoted by the niche overlap on the sunlight and spatial resource between various species. This result demonstrated that the niche differentiation caused by niche overlap was one of the important mechanisms in the coexistence of biodiversity of Q. aquifolioides community on the southeastern Tibetan plateau. In the community of Q. aquifolioides;the inter- and intra-levels species coexistence was promoted by the niche overlap on the sunlight and spatial resource between various species. This result demonstrated that the niche differentiation caused by strong environmental filtering in alpine regions and the niche overlap between species with similar habitat requirements were the important mechanisms in the coexistence of biodiversity of Q.aquifolioides community on the southeastern Tibetan plateau.关键词
