Research progress on the biomass and productivity of Pinus Massoniana plantation

Abstract
The forest biomass and productivity are the basis for studying the forest ecosystem structure and function. Pinus massoniana is an important timber species in Southern China, and its biomass and productivity receive wide attention. Based on the review of the research background, history, current situation, and the development of the biomass and productivity of P. massoniana plantation, this paper reviews the dynamic of P. massoniana plantation biomass and productivity and the characteristic of allocation at individual and stand level and the effects of different managements (site condition, the initial density, the mixture measurements, thinning, and fertilization) on the biomass and productivity of P. massoniana plantation. Focusing on the climatic mechanism of productivity of P. massoniana plantation and applying the tree ring method in this study which is widely used in recent years, it also analyzes and integrates the climatic factors which affect the productivity of P. massoniana plantation, illustrating the research progress on the biomass and productivity of P. massoniana plantation, which can provide a theoretical reference for the management of P. massoniana plantation in the background of improvement of the quality of China’s forest.关键词
