Abstract

A new type of ZSM-5 was prepared from ZSM-5 raw material by using pore-forming agent and used as a support to prepare Fe-, Cu-, and Ag-modified ZSM-5 adsorbents by incipient wetness impregnation with nitrate solutions. The prepared ZSM-5 support and adsorbents were characterized by BET and intensity tester, and their adsorption removal performances of dimethyl disulfide in simulated MTBE and commercial MTBE raw materials were investigated by static and dynamic experiments. The results showed that adding 30% by mass of the pore-forming agent improved the pore structure of the adsorbent support and its desulfurization capacity. The desulfurization performance of the metal-modified ZSM-5 is ZSM-5<FeZSM-5<CuZSM-5<AgZSM-5. Further experimental studies indicated that the AgZSM-5 adsorbent prepared by adding 3% AgNO3by mass had the best desulfurization performance, over which, in the dynamic adsorption experiments, under LHSV of 1 h-1, the breakthrough sulfur capacity was 1.43%by mass for the simulated MTBE, and the desulfurization effect for commercial MTBE was also excellent.
