Abstract

The effect of different molding methods on the pavement performance of SAC asphalt mixture was studied. With the standard compaction method designed by Marshall, the SAC asphalt mixture is gyratory compacted for 120 times and 100 times. The high temperature stability, water stability and fatigue of the same grade asphalt mixture designed by different molding methods were analyzed. The results showed that the high temperature performance of asphalt mixture designed with standard Marshall method is the worst and the high temperature performance of asphalt mixture designed through 100 times superpave gyratory compaction is the best. The water stability of SAC asphalt mixture designed with standard Marshall method is the best. The water stability of SAC asphalt mixture designed through 125 times superpave gyratory compaction is the worst. The anti-fatigue performance of SAC asphalt mixture designed through 100 times superpave gyratory compaction is the best. The anti-fatigue performance of SAC asphalt mixture designed with standard Marshall method is the worst. The SAC asphalt mixture designed through 100 times superpave gyratory compaction will get better comprehensive road performance.
