Abstract

In this paper, pinus sylvestris wood flour was used as raw material. Cellulose nanofibers (CNF) were obtained by chemical and mechanical treatment. Wet CNF membrane was prepared by filtration. Then the wet CNF membrane was treated in NaOH solution of different concentrations to prepare CNF hydrogel. The shrinkage, crystal structure, morphology and mechanical properties of the hydrogel were analyzed. X-ray diffraction analysis shows that when the concentration of alkali solution is greater than 12%(wt), the crystalline form of the hydrogel is transformed from cellulose Ⅰ to cellulose Ⅱ. Scanning electron microscope observation reveals that the surface morphology of CNF wet film is changed greatly after strong alkali treatment, and interlacing between nanofibers appears, showing a continuous tangled three-dimensional network structure and porous structure. The mechanical analysis shows that the optimum NaOH concentration for preparing high strength hydrogel is 18%(wt). And the high strength hydrogel with tensile strength of 4.8 MPa, elastic modulus of 11.7 MPa and elongation at break of 31.2% was made by 18%(wt) NaOH treatment.
