Abstract

Objective To analyze the imaging features of uterine fibroids in the FAIR and to explore the value of FAIR imaging in the diagnosis of uterine fibroids. Methods Thirty two patients with uterine fibroids were examined by conventional MRI and FAIR. Measurements of FAIR imaging of uterine fibroids and normal myometrium were performed. The differences of the measurement data were analyzed with the paired t-test. The value of FAIR to diagnose uterine fibroids was analyzed by receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC curve). Results The FAIR value of uterine fibroids was 107.90 ± 20.92. The FAIR value of normal myometrium was 148.98 ± 99.16. The FAIR values of uterine fibroids were lower than normal myometrium (P<0.05). The ROC curve showed an area under curve (AUC) of 0.661 with sensitivity of 78.12% and specificity of 53.13%. Conclusion FAIR imaging can show the signal difference between uterine fibroids and normal myometrium, but the value of uterine fibroids as a separate sequence is not high.
