Abstract
Objective To report clinical characteristics and treatment of external auditory canal cholesteatoma (EACC). Methods Thirty two cases of EACC that were surgically treated were retrospectively analyzed in this study. Results Surgical methods were chosen based on the Shin classification. All patients were followed up for more than half a year. The postoperative outcomes were satisfactory with low rate of cholesteatoma recurrence. Conclusion External auditory canal cholesteatoma can cause extensive destruction of the temporal bone and the surgical treatment meth-od of choice depends on the extent of the lesion. Complete removal of the external auditory canal cholesteatoma lesion is the effective way to improve hearing and prevent recurrence of cholesteatoma.关键词
