Abstract

Radiation sound caused by structural vibration is a widespread noise in our life. Acoustic radiation efficiency is an important indicator to evaluate the structure’s sound radiation ability. In this paper, based on the theory of acoustic radiation, the formula of acoustic radiation efficiency of the clamped rectangular plates was deduced and the acoustic radiation efficiency of structural modals was calculated by reasonably choosing the base modal functions. It is pointed out that suppressing the amplitudes of odd-odd modes can effectively reduce the sound radiation of the plates. Finally, it is concluded that the odd-odd mode is the dominant mode of acoustic radiation. This conclusion was verified by measurement of the vibration modes and the test of sound insulation ability of the clamped rectangular plates.
