Abstract

The approach of vibro-acoustic control of a cylindrical shell in low-frequency stage based on the concept of distributed vibration absorbers (DVA) was studied. Utilizing the theory of dynamic damped absorbers, the finite element model of the cylindrical shell was established and analyzed based on COMSOL Multiphysics software. According to the position of excitation, a design scheme by unequally spliced annular vibration absorbers on the inside wall of the cylindrical shell was given. The result shows that, by comparison with the equally spaced DVA annulus scheme, this design can provide a much better effect of the vibro-acoustic control. The vibration restrain can reach up to 26 dB and the acoustic attenuation can reach up to 20 dB in the studied low-frequency stage. This type of DVA annulus can provide a reference for the vibro-acoustic control design of large equipment shells.
