Abstract
Tow ship noise is the major near-field interference for towed array sonar, and it severely limits the array’s detection ability and azimuth range due to its high noise intensity and wide extension azimuth range. To solve this problem, a multiple signal classification (MUSIC) based technique is proposed in this paper. This method can suppress the tow ship noise via migrating the eigenvector of the tow ship noise from the signal subspace to the noise subspace. Principle analysis gives the theoretical basis and feasibility of the MUSIC technique. The processing results of sea trial data show that the method can eliminate the tow ship noise dramatically within a wide azimuth range around the ship bow position. It is proved that this method has excellent tow ship noise inhibition ability, and can also effectively eliminate azimuth spread caused by the multipath effect, and hence can improve the target extraction ability and display effect.关键词
