Abstract

Cargo oil vaporizes to the gas phase space and forms the oil-vapor field during the process of loading of oil tankers, and the distribution of vapor concentration in the gas and oil field is a key problem to the safety of loading operations.A more reasonable three-dimensional model was established, and the VOF (volume-of-fluid) model, film theory and Fick's law are combined by the software secondary development of CFD (computational fluid dynamics), which is used to simulate the vari-ation of oil-vapor field in the loading process of cargo tanks.The numerical simulation results were verified by the experimental data.The results show that the numerical simulation results of the model agree well with the experimental data, and thus the accuracy of the mathematical model and numerical method are verified.During the loading process, the vapor concentration in the liquid storage tank is wavy and stratified, and the vapor concentration gradient decreases slowly in the vertical direction. With the increase of the loading ratio, the convection intensity of the vapor field increases firstly and then decreases, and the vapor field forms a clear vortex in case of the strong convection.The concentration and total amount of vapor emission from the breather hole increases continuously, and the growth rate is very obvious when the loading rate is 70%.
