Development and Application of Lightning Protection Line Arrester for Yindong Line

Abstract
In order to improve the lightning withstand level of ±660 kV DC transmission line,we analyzed basic requirements and structural type of line surge arresters. Moreover,we researched some key technical parameters, such as the nominal voltage, DC reference voltage, residual voltage, long-duration current impulse current, pressure release capability, insulation coordination, series gap distance, and so on, through calculation and corresponding experimental verification. Meanwhile, we developed ±660 kV DC transmission line arresters successfully, and designed a stand support type installation of line arresters. According to the research results, the nominal voltage is 800 kV, the DC reference voltage is no less than ±800 kV, the nominal discharge current is 30 kA, the residual voltage no more than 1 583 kV, the probability of 50% of lightning impulse discharge voltage no more than 2 600 kV, the series gap distance is (1 900±100) mm, and the long-duration current impulse current is 2 kA, respectively. Line arresters for ±660 kV DC transmission line have been used in ±660 kV Yinchuan-Shandong DC transmission line (Yindong line), which accumulates operating experiences and provides a basis for large-scale application of line arrester on ±660 kV DC transmission lines.关键词
