Test Technology of Hybrid HVDC Circuit Breaker

Abstract
The hybrid HVDC circuit breaker is a new type of high-end power equipment in the field of power electronics combined with mechanical switch technology. So far, there are no international or national standards for electrical tests. We detailed the limit conditions of the hybrid HVDC circuit breaker, and emphatically analyzed the key components such as the fast mechanical switch, the main branch valve and the main breaker branch valve etc. Moreover, we put forward a running test and insulation test project which can fully evaluate the electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical performances of the whole machine, and the construction of the test system. The results show that all the tests of developed first 535 kV hybrid DC circuit breaker prototype and its key components are completed in the test system, the maximum breaking current is 25 kA, and the breaking time is less than 3 ms. The test results fully demonstrate the correctness and feasibility of the research and test technology, which provide a theoretical basis for future related test of hybrid HVDC circuit breaker testing standards.关键词
