Correlation of serum myostatin and hypersensitivity C-reactive protein with sarcopenia in elderly patients

Abstract
Objective: To determine the level of serum myostatin (MSTN) and hypersensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) in patients with sarcopenia, and to explore the clinical significance of these two factors in elderly patients with sarcopenia. Methods: Serum samples from 40 patients with sarcopenia and 42 patients in the control group were collected. Serum levels of MSTN and hs-CRP were measured in two groups, and the correlation between MSTN and hs-CRP in sarcopenia group was analyzed. Results: Levels of serum MSTN and hs-CRP in the sarcopenia group were higher than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P＜0.01). Conclusion: Levels of serum MSTN and hs-CRP are both sensitive and accurate indicators for the diagnosis of sarcopenia. Combined detection of them has certain significance in the diagnosis, treatment and disease monitoring of elderly patients with sarcopenia.关键词
