Maximum Power Point Tracking of Photovoltaic Cells Based on the Improved Incremental Conductance Method

Abstract
In view of the shortcomings of the traditional incremental conductance method in tracking the maximum power of photovoltaic cells, such as slow tracking speed and large steady-state oscillation amplitude, an improved incremental conductance control method is proposed. A new step factor expression is presented. Compared with the traditional step factor, the proposed step factor has large value in initial stage and small value when close to the maximum power, which can guarantee the tracking speed of the maximum power point and the accuracy of the steady-state. The simulation model of the photovoltaic cell is built, and the output characteristic curves of the photovoltaic cell under different temperatures and different light intensity are analyzed. The experimental results show that the proposed improved incremental conductance control method can effectively improve the tracking speed and the tracking accuracy in steady-state.关键词
