摘要

Abstract

The effect of element Y on microstructure and mechanical properties of AZ91D alloy was investigated. The results show that the addition of Y element in the casting process of AZ91D magnesium alloy can effectively refine and reduce the second phase of β-Mg17Al12, and a new compound phase Al2Y is formed. The tensile strength and elongation of magnesium alloy increase at first and then decrease with the increase of Y content at the conditions of both room temperature (20 ℃) and 160 ℃, and the mechanical properties are optimal when Y content is 0.6%. Furthermore, the fracture mechanism of the alloy at room temperature transforms from brittle fracture to ductile fracture with increasing the Y content in the magnesium alloy from 0 to 0.6%.
