"新环保法"提高了企业环境信息披露质量吗?——一项准自然实验

Abstract
Environmental problems have become an important issue for the government and public. The 'new environmental protection law' was implement in 1 st January 2015. Based on China's heavily polluting listed firms from 2003 to 2016, we use the 'new environmental protection law' as a "quasi natural experiment" to examine the influence on the quality of enterprise environmental information disclosure. We divided the sample into experimental group and control group by the actual controller's administrative level, which is designed according to the second chapter and twenty-sixth section. We found that the 'new environmental protection law' improves the quality of the environmental information disclosure of the administrative level of the actual controller at the hall level and above, which is mainly reflected in the areas with strong environmental regulation and high levels of marketization. This study shows that the 'new environmental protection law' has a positive impact on the quality of corporate environmental information disclosure and complements the market mechanism. This not only provides empirical evidence for the promotion of relevant environmental protection laws and regulations, but also provides empirical evidence for the role of the 'new environmental protection law'on the environmental behavior of the enterprise from the perspective of the administrative level of the actual controller.关键词
