Bi-Level Distributed Optimization for Microgrid Clusters Based on Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers

Abstract
With increased penetration of distributed generation (DG), microgrid (MG) becomes an efficient control to address DG integration. Regional MGs can be interconnected as microgrid cluster (MGC) to enhance economy and reliability of the system. In this paper, a bi-level distributed optimization for MGCs based on alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) is proposed. Its upper level coordinates operation of multiple MGs using distributed ADMM, and the lower level deals with optimal operation of each MG with centralized controller. In the proposed method, only expected power exchange need to transmit between neighboring MGs, thus reducing communication burden and protecting privacy. Case study shows that the proposed method can effectively address MGC optimization.关键词
