Abstract
Objective To analyze the MRI features of salivary mucoepidermoid carcinoma(MEC) to improve the understanding of muco-epidermoid carcinoma.Methods The MRI features of 20 cases with salivary mucoepidermoid carcinoma proved by pathology examination were retrospectively analyzed.MR images were evaluated with emphasis on signal intensities and cystic on fat-saturated T2 weighted,correla-ting these with pathological features.Results Tumors of 2 cases were high-grade,all of the tumors showed inhomogeneous low to intermediate signal intensity,without cystic on fat-saturated T2 weighted and T2W images.Tumors of 12 cases were intermediate-grade,all of the tumours showed inhomogeneous intermediate to high signal intensity on fat-saturated T2 weighted and T2W images,and 11(91.7% ) lesions had cyst-ic,1(8.3% ) lesion without cystic.Tumors of 6 cases were low-grade,all of the tumours showed inhomogeneous intermediate to high signal in-tensity on fat-saturated T2 weighted and T2W images,6(100%)lesions had cystic and 1(16.7%) lesion with lymph node metastasis.All tumors showed low signal on T1W images,18 lesions had marked enhancement.Sixteen tumours had an ill-defined margin,4 tumours had clear margin.Conclusion MRI features of salivary mucoepidermoid carcinoma have specific characterization,the MRI findings reflecting their histological nature,which is helpful for the diagnosis and treatment of mucoepidermoid carcinoma.关键词
