Intestinal Microbial Metabolites and Probiotic Regulation in Piglets

Abstract
In recent years, the associations between intestinal microbial composition, host diet and host physi﹣ology has increasingly attracted the attention in animal nutrition research. Gut microbiota can regulate the me﹣tabolism, immunity, growth and development of the host via its metabolites. This article systematically reviews the composition of intestinal microbiota, the types of microbiota metabolites, and the effect of probiotic supple﹣mentation on the intestinal microbiota of piglets, in order to provide some guidance for future research and nu﹣tritional regulation on the intestinal microbiota in piglets.
