Abstract
Lactic acid is an important intermediate metabolite in the rumen of ruminants, and its’ accumulation may accelerate the development of ruminal acidosis when ruminants are fed high concentrate diets. In this pa﹣per, the lactic acid metabolic mechanism and its’ influencing factors, several ways to prevent ruminal acidosis by increasing lactic acid utilizing and supplementation of thiamine were reviewed, in purpose to summarize the metabolic mechanism of lactic acid utilization and provide references for the prevention of ruminal acidosis.
