摘要

Abstract

Inflammation and oxidative stress are main causes of tissue and organ damage in animals. The intes﹣tinal inflammation may cause damage to intestinal mucosa, and thereby affecting its barrier function and weake﹣ning the animal’s ability to defend against external stimuli. Plant polyphenols are characterized by low toxicity and no drug resistance, and possess multiple potential biological effects such as antioxidant, anti﹣inflammation and intestinal flora regulation. Therefore, polyphenols have a wide application prospect in the development of novel feed additives. However, polyphenols have not been used rationally since the metabolic and regulatory mechanisms of most plant polyphenols are still not clear. Based on recent studies, this paper has summarized the regulation of oxidative stress and inflammatory signaling pathways by plant polyphenols to provide a theo﹣retical basis for their application in novel feed additives.[ Chinese Journal of Animal Nutrition, 2019, 31(4) :1554?1563]
