摘要

Abstract

DC arc switching experiments were carried out under different magnetic fields, opening distances, currents and arc extinguishing mediums. The experimental results show that the burning time of arc in hydrogen medium is short, the disturbance is violent and the probability of re-striking is high. On the basis of the MHD theory, the finite element method was adopted to simulate the dynamic process of re-striking of arc in hydrogen medium in the contact gaps and the dynamic distribution of arc in time and space was obtained. Through analyzing the influence of temperature and magnetic field on arc motion during arc re-striking, this paper explains how the restriking of arc in hydrogen medium generates and changes. Finally, a method about how to reduce arc re-striking by use of mixed hydrogen and nitrogen as medium was put forward. The experimental results show that when the H2-N2 ratio is 3: 2, the probability of arc re-striking is the lowest, and the arc extinguishing effect is the best.
