Abstract
Eco-aesthetics, emerging under the background of environmental crisis as a discipline to explore the relationship between aesthetics and ecology, reflects on the relationship between man and nature. But eco-aesthetics does not try to change the world or take direct action against capitalist mode of production. Its goal is to understand the beauty of reality and to provide critical theoretical cognition. Eco-aesthetics and ecological aesthetics of nature are closely related, but they have similar, not identical objects of study. Eco-aesthetics is a discipline which, in the common sense, focuses on the existing world of nature, intact or modified by human only to a limited extent (wilderness areas, natural ecosystems, natural or landscape parks) . It advocates that human should comply with nature rather than control nature to maintain the original beauty of nature and object to the distortion and modification of nature by human. Therefore, eco-aesthetics is part of, or at least close to, the biocentric vision of the world, in contrast to ecological aesthetics of nature, which reflects the anthropocentric vision of reality. Ecological aesthetics of nature, conceived by Gernot Bohme, focuses on the transforming effects of human activities, emphasizes human.s experiences and sensory perceptions, and advocates experiencing nature from physiological point of view.Bohme analyses a variety of garden models to affirm the role of experiencing. French gardens are vertical projection, geometric layout, formal and rigorous;British gardens present themselves through the changes of angles and scenes, breaking the dichotomy of nature and art, nature and culture, nature and civilization.This practice of paying attention to nature, revering nature and treating nature as the product of art and the expression of emotion can be used for reference. In general, eco-aesthetics is interested in nature in its original form, while ecological aesthetics of nature focuses more on the environment modified by human.关键词
